A big-budget film in the cinema
This is the release that fans of big budget films shouldn’t miss. After a lightning release that left many fans wanting more, Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms, the first part of a trilogy with stunning visual effects, has been available in French cinemas since July 10. Inspired by the classic Chinese novel “The Investiture of the Gods,” the film chronicles the rise of an evil prince and a hero’s fight to overthrow him. With a colossal budget, it was compared to “Lord of the Rings” for its scale, but never had the time to conquer French-speaking audiences. At the end of 2023, Godzilla Minus One suffered the same fate, benefiting from only two poor days of broadcasting, although it still won over many viewers. Now it’s time for “Creation of the Dogs” to have a second chance with its name.
“Creation of the Gods” is an adaptation of one of the greatest Chinese legends. Prince Yin Shou, with the help of his lover Su Daji, who is herself under the influence of the demon fox, tries to bloodily ascend to the throne of the Shang kingdom. The Taoist sage Jiang Ziya descended from the sacred mountain Kunlun and Ji Fa, a young warrior raised by Yin Shou, join forces in the fight against the tyrant. – Allociné Synopsis

What the press says
Creations of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms was a box office hit both domestically and internationally, grossing no less than $372.95 million before its short release in France. On his first outing, our journalist Jay said he was impressed by the experience: “Creations of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms stands out from western heroic fantasy films simply because it is an adaptation of a founding work of Chinese literature. The Middle Kingdom-specific cosmogony and mythology bring a breath of fresh air to the genre and guarantee a different approach to fantasy on the big screen.“. The French press seems to be largely convinced. 20 Minutes speaks of a “historical and fantastic fresco that surprises with its spectacular side”, while Le Parisien says that “history is an eternal magic that we follow with joy”. Screen Great nuance that reminds us of “A pretty spectacular blockbuster, but it has too much under control to not go around in circles“. Trilogy committed, two more episodes are to be released; we hope you will enjoy a long stay in our rooms.
