There are universally acclaimed works whose influence transcends their individual medium. One of these is a creation by Michael Mann. It even inspired one of the best missions in the entire GTA franchise.
The robbery for everyone
Born in February 1943, Michael Mann is one of the greatest living directors of American cinema. When he makes his debut on television, his career will take off, especially thanks to the success of the series MiamiVice (known to us as Two police officers in Miami), which he produced for NBC from 1984 to 1990. Michael Mann switched to film in the 1980s and had success with The Last of the Mohicans in 1992 but above all with heat in 1995, which is still considered by some to be his main work.
Featuring a gang of robbers led by Robert de Niro and Val Kilmer who hunt down a police lieutenant played by Al Pacino. heat was praised for its captivating narrative, Mr. Mann’s visual mastery and for offering viewers a direct confrontation between De Niro and Pacinotwo of the greatest actors who have worked in the so-called “gangster” cinema. A confrontation that has been shown for free since the film is right now available on the VOD platform france.tv and that until 29 September.
The influence of a cult film
An opportunity not to be missed to watch or rewatch the film, as it was not satisfied with the very good reception it received upon its release, heat has become a cult work of Hollywood cinema and inspired many others, sometimes even outside the 7th art.
