news culture This film will be in cinemas for free in August 2023 for those who have THAT first name and no other, are you one of the chosen few?
Quentin Dupieux, known as the director and author of unclassifiable films such as “Steak”, “Rubber”, “Réalité” or “Smoking goes you coughing”, gets people talking with his new film thanks to an extraordinary communication campaign. Barbie and Oppenheimer better watch out!
The lucky winner
It’s been a few days since social media revolved around this summer’s two strong films, namely Barbie and Oppenheimer. But there’s a little French film that soon ends up in dark rooms, available to a bewildering camera. This film is Yannick, from the prolific brain of Quentin Dupieux (or Mr. Oizo, for electronic music fans). Even the synopsis suggests moments that are as absurd as they are explosive: while bored during the performance of a play, Yannick (played by Raphaël Quenard) gets up and interrupts the actors with the thought of taking matters into their own hands.
Simple but strange stories are common in Quentin Dupieux. What’s more surprising is executing a marketing campaign that’s at least as fancy as the work it’s trying to sell. guest in the program C à vous on France 5, Raphaël Quenard announced that the session on the film “Yannick” will be offered to anyone named “Yannick”.where the identity card is authentic.
We could believe it’s a big joke, but the information is officially confirmed by Quentin Dupieux on his Twitter/X account. So it seems that from August 9th all Yannicks in France will be able to see the latest creation of the author of Mandibles without spending a euro.

Nothing stops him
Like last year, when the director managed to release two films, Unbelievable But True and Smoking Makes You Cough, Quentin Dupieux will release two new films in Dark Rooms in 2023 starring Yannick but also Daaaaaali!, a comedy that narrates a journalist’s meeting with Salvador Dalí for a report. This officer of the Order of Arts and Letters has definitely not finished talking about him.
