A new game was recently released on the PS5. It was announced during a major event: PlayStation’s latest State of Play. On the menu was Death Stranding 2, the return of Sonic, but also this mysterious title. In fact, there were a lot of rumors about it before it finally became official. The icing on the cake is that it was released instantly and you don’t have to pay a cent to play it. So it’s obviously already a great success.
A free game to play on PS5, ideal for Silent Hill fans
You will no doubt have understood that it is “Silent Hill: The Short Message”. The state of affairs in question was a huge moment for Konami’s franchise. But not just in the good sense of the word. We are of course thinking about the remake of the second work, which particularly frightened the fans. We won’t spend hours on the topic, but right now the community is mixed. However, she didn’t have that to eat. So what is this strange game on PS5 that seems to deviate from the classic licensing formula?
“The Short Message” is a much shorter “Silent Hill” than the others. Of course, you have to expect two hours to get through it, which really isn’t long. On the other hand, it is important to note that it is… free-to-play. Regardless of what we think of the title, it is of course a great gift for fans. Unsurprisingly, they rushed over. At least those who own a PS5, because it is currently exclusive. No luck for the others, but things could change, so be patient.
The game has been available since January 31st. Due to its “free” status, it didn’t take long for it to be downloaded en masse. We can even say that it is a great success since it has already recorded more than a million downloads on PS5. An impressive result that must be put into perspective by what we have just explained. Still, it’s nice to see such enthusiasm for Silent Hill, especially since the series hasn’t been released for many years. We hope that future works like F or Townfall will be equally popular.
A somewhat special formula
Silent Hill: The Short Message on PS5 is not a work like any other. In the sense that he already takes the first person point of view instead of the third person point of view. It may seem trivial on paper, but it is important. Here we play Anita, a young girl who has received messages from her friend Maya. She decides to follow their words and goes to a dilapidated building that is infamous for all the suicides that have taken place there. However, everything doesn’t go as planned and she finds herself in the building and being followed. To get out of there she has to find something, but what? It’s up to you to find out.
