Steven Spielberg has published the ranking of his ten favorite films and there is good news: a French feature film takes tenth place.

We have the precious top 10 of Steven Spielberg’s favorite films. Obviously a quality ranking that is generously shared in the columns of the British media Far Out. And the good news is that it is a French film that comes in tenth place ; a little pride that we owe to Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, directors of the international success “Intouchables”, this very touching film with Omar Sy and François Cluzet, which tells the unlikely friendship between Philippe, a rich, disabled aristocrat, and Driss, a young man from the suburbs, just released from prison.

The ranking also includes countless classics, including 2001’s The Godfather, A Space Odyssey, Lawrence of Arabia and Alfred Hitchcock’s must-see thriller Psycho. Spielberg also appreciates more modern productions such as James Gunn’s excellent Guardians of the Galaxy. However, first place goes to an older film: Life is Beautiful by Frank Capra. This absolutely moving drama from 1998 tells the story of Guido, an idealistic bookseller who falls madly in love with Dora and kidnaps her on the day of their engagement. Together they have a son, Giosue. But the family happiness is destroyed by the rise of fascism. As a Jew, Guido is deported with his son. To protect them, Dora accompanies them on this journey of no return. Out of love, Guido invents a game to preserve Giosue’s innocence in the face of the horror in the camps. A must-see if you missed this masterpiece.
Which project for Spielberg?
The American director, known for blockbusters such as “Jurassic Park” and “Indiana Jones”, will soon be turning his attention to a new topic: Unidentified Flying Objects, now called UAP. His next, even more mysterious film is due to be released in May 2026 and could be called The Dish. Initial rumors point to Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer and Quietly) and Josh O’Connor (The Crown) in the lead roles.
