Gaming News This highly anticipated RPG released on Game Pass this year reveals many secrets with new gameplay
Despite a somewhat mixed return from Starfield, Microsoft wants to prove to the world that they have it in the bag. Last week they announced news about some of their most anticipated games. Below, a certain highly anticipated RPG is revealed.
Already one of the nuggets of 2024?
Between the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, the integration of numerous renowned studios into its ecosystem and the recent release of Starfield, Microsoft seems to want to prove to the world that they have the wind in their sails and that this momentum won’t stop in 2024. To start the year right, the manufacturer behind the Xbox Series and Game Pass recently released news about several particularly anticipated games thanks to a Developer_Direct Aired last Thursday. During the latter, players were able to discover in particular the next Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle (actual star of the conference), but also a few more images from Hellblade 2 or even Explained. Today it’s the latter that’s coming back to the fore thanks to a new gameplay video.
In case you missed the information, Avowed is the next game from Obsidian Studios. They are the ones who have created games that are particularly appreciated by the public Fallout: New Vegas or The Outer Worlds. Recognized for their extremely careful narrative and their well-constructed universes, these developers have already accustomed us to great things and we look forward to discovering a little more of this famous Avowed. As a fantasy role-playing game, it has often been presented as a more colorful “Skyrim-like” and, above all, with much more dynamic and entertaining gameplay. In any case, the first images of the game have shown us this, and suffice it to say that the news that the studio has just revealed goes in this direction.
A little more gameplay for this highly anticipated RPG
Just yesterday, the developers of Obsidian released a new, no less than 25-minute video in which they talk about their future baby in a little more detail. We find there in particular Carrie Patel (Game Director) and Gabriel Paramo (Gameplay Director) as well as some other members of the Xbox Podcast. The opportunity for them to get in on the Developer_Direct hype and show us some secrets and new gameplay.
One of the first things they come back to is the game’s environment. If Avowed will not be an open world, certain zones will still be completely optional, like the one featured in this video. According to the developers, exploration will be rewarded and some passages will even encourage you to search underwater.
The combat system seems to be closely based on that of Skyrim, with an equippable weapon in each hand and a first-person perspective, but also promises to be a little more dynamic thanks to more fluid movements. Fans of Hogwarts Legacy will feel like they’re on familiar ground thanks to the mastery of Baguette. In contrast to Harry Potter, however, you can also vary your approach and get out Firearms shorten a fight. Of course, since this is a fantasy game, you should expect to use piracy-like powder weapons rather than assault rifles.
If you had trouble choosing your build in Skyrim and are worried you’ll have the same problem in Avowed, the developers tell us that versatility is certainly possible, and it is respec should also be reasonably accessible. As for the RPG aspect of the title, you can of course create your own builds, although it is possible to follow some well-known archetypes such as healers, melee classes or even mages. This allows you to adapt to your companions during the adventure (or vice versa) to form an effective team in all situations.
As a reminder, Avowed is expected in autumn 2024 and should be available exclusively in the Microsoft ecosystem. It will therefore appear on both PC and Xbox Series and will be integrated into Game Pass from launch day.
