Studio WIT is hard at work on THE ONE PIECE, a reimagining of the hit anime ONE PIECE – but what kind of series will this production team create? We visited the studio to find out more from the hard-working staff.
Here’s what you need to know about the team: The series will be directed by Masashi Koizuka (Attack on Titan) and assisted by Hideaki Abe (Jujutsu Kaisen). The project will also benefit from the talent of Taku Kishimoto (Haikyuu!!) for series composition. On the animation side, Kyoji Asano (Spy x Family) and Takatoshi Honda (Slam Dunk) will be in charge of character design and animation direction, while Ken Imaizumi (Boruto) and Shuhei Fukuda (Call of the Night) will be in charge of animation and will cast action scenes. In short, a variety of talents are putting emphasis on reproducing the essence of the series in the best possible way in this remake. We also suspect that WIT Studio is trying to attract a new audience with this adaptation by modernizing the animation and using an aspect ratio that is more suited to current screens.

Before embarking on Luffy’s adventures, Oda wrote short stories. One of them, “Monsters,” features Ryuma, a legendary samurai who would later make a notable appearance in One Piece. Netflix has adapted this story into an animated film, offering fans a glimpse into the origins of the universe of their favorite manga. MONSTERS: Hell of the Flying Dragon of 103 Passions has been available on the Netflix platform for several months
