If you saw the CGI trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla yesterday, you may have noticed the hidden blade. In addition to being no longer truly hidden, it is tied to the protagonist Evel ’s forearm and bound with pure vision.
Creative Director Ashraf Ismail revealed the reason for this in the developer comment video. It turns out that Eivor just thought it was too cool to hide.
"We are building a Viking fantasy," Ismail explained. "We want the players to live in the boots of the Viking Warrior and live completely in that fantasy, but this is in the world of Assassin's Creed. Therefore, during our journey, Evel will indeed encounter assassins. You must know what this means, but they have something in common. These are the people with whom Eivor will work.
"At some point, Eivor did receive a hidden blade-this happened very early. We don't want to enter any spoiler territory, nor do we want to explain why this connection exists, but it is crucial for the development of the game Important. So when Eivor received the hidden sword, Eivor put it on and believed it was a kick weapon, so why would you hide it from the enemy? "
Narby director Darby McDevitt also said that the team worked hard to ensure that the conspiracy of the Vikings and Assassins was resolved. He said: "We spent a lot of time interweaving and overlapping threads to ensure that there is contact and integration at all times."
Ubisoft also revealed that you will be able to play as a male or female Eivor, and these two options are actually examples of stories.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla will land on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS5 and Xbox SeriesX this holiday season. We will be demonstrating gameplay for the first time in the Microsoft Xbox showcase on May 7.
