The first images of the Nintendo Switch 2 are circulating online. But should we believe this new leak on the next Big N console or is it a huge scam?
With the Nintendo Switch 2 appearing in the rumors category for weeks, it’s time to formalize it to put an end to the many more or less credible rumors. Because recently the console was even mentioned by Microsoft in an audit for the takeover of Activision Blizzard. The American company has actually hinted that Nintendo would revisit its concept of a hybrid machine.
And in the last few hours, there has been a leak of an entirely different magnitude that has people reacting. First pictures of the Nintendo Switch 2 would have leaked. Really ?
The first pictures of the Nintendo Switch 2?
Now that Sony and Microsoft have released their next-gen console, all eyes are on Big N and its Nintendo Switch 2. A totally unofficial name, but for lack of a better name, it’s the most descriptive name. But this silence, which is basically quite normal since it is up to the manufacturer to estimate the right time to release its next console, fuels rumors and leaks.
And yes, it turns out that the first images of the Nintendo Switch 2 would have been revealed in advance. Not by the Japanese company, but by a leak. The images visible below show several things. First, the company would have opted to keep the current name and add a simple “2”. Second, there would no longer be a dock, but a more discreet base that plugs into the TV. Finally, thirdly, the Joy-Con concept would still be in play, but with modifications. They appear to be housed in a mount for better maneuverability.
After we have commented on all of this, we unfortunately have to tell you that this is just a huge fake. The fact that Big N calls its console the Nintendo Switch 2 is a clue in itself. Then the design of the machine and its controls are reminiscent of something tinkered “in a hurry” to make a fake. Even if we can see a minimal effort. In addition, these images would come from the forums of family boards, and there they are sold as models. An artist’s vision of a product that doesn’t exist yet.
Fans laugh and get angry
On Twitter, this fake Nintendo Switch 2 leak is as irritating as it is entertaining. “If you’re over 13 and genuinely believe this is a Switch 2 leak, you should be put on an FBI watchlist.”
This first fake leak may be the first in a very long series, but some may be more impressive than others. Remember what a Frenchman created for the Nintendo NX – the codename for the Switch. According to journalist Jeff Grubb, the Nintendo Switch 2 could be announced in late 2023 or early 2024, with a launch next year.
Hongzhun, a metal box company of Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), said the Nintendo Switch 2 will be available in early 2024. But be careful, it would be released in the next fiscal year, so not until April 2024. If Hongzhun seems so competent, it’s because the manufacturer has accepted an order for the Big N console. At least that’s what the company said.
