There’s a new Starfield mod that adds a whole new skill to the game, which is based around silently knocking down your enemies – in lethal or non-lethal ways – with your bare hands or a handy cleaver. That said, my favorite thing about it is that it has the potential to kill someone instantly by punching them in the rear.
While we seem to be at a stage where Starfield’s creation kit may need to arrive before people can really start trying to unlock its full modding potential, in the meantime, a few dedicated folks are still working on it or planning interesting mods Group. For those who love Hitman or just like finding new ways to hang out in zero gravity, one of these looks perfect.

It’s called “Shades Stealth Takedowns (Knock-out or Lethal)” and comes from modder Shadedness, who clearly loves the idea of pretending to be a ninja in space. Their latest title is designed to allow you to “sneak up on an enemy and deliver a one-hit knockout for a non-lethal knockout or instant kill.”
They’ve even added a new physical skill into the game called “Takedowns” that you can upgrade. By doing this, you’ll first unlock the ability to perform a takedown by sneaking up on an undetected target and delivering a powerful attack or pressing a new dedicated button when prompted, and then earn some nice rewards each time you do so.
It all looks pretty impressive, and a great way to flesh out the game’s existing stealth mechanics and notoriously mediocre hand-to-hand combat. I can’t get over the fact that the first takedown they perform in this very nice showcase video to show this is just them punching a poor spacer in the back for an instant kill, Then there’s a wonderful zero-gravity corpse drop.
I mean, forget the fact that they also immediately stripped the guy down to his boxers to show off another mod they just released – “Shade’s Immersive Looting” – and they go ahead and execute some nice Knockdown, but that’s not the case. While there was no shameless chop on my cheek, I just couldn’t stop thinking about the sound the victim made during that first spanking.
Putting that aside, if you’re good at remaining completely undetectable you may find the mod in its current form a bit too powerful for your liking, but it’s definitely worth keeping in mind for the possible additions to the load order. Especially if Shadedness can follow through on their stated future plans to incorporate things like grenade defuses, booster tampering, and the ability to silently induce an overdose in Aurora.
Speaking of Starfield, be sure to check out what’s in the latest update to get it into Steam Beta, especially if you have a big, expensive PC and like to get everything out of it graphically via AMD or Intel technology.
