Game News This Once Human player wanted to do a good deed by reporting another player’s cheating… and he was the one who got banned!
You may be familiar with Once Human, a multiplayer survival game: a player has just been banned instead of the cheater he was trying to expose.
A new game that is already popular
Once Human is a survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world: in a vast, particularly dark and fascinating science fiction world, you must develop your character and your base while going in search of new, particularly intimidating enemies. We also play a meta-human endowed with the power of Stardust, an alien creature that has nevertheless haunted the population.
Playable alone or in online co-op, One Human is a very young video game: it was only released on July 9, 2024 and comes directly from Starry Studio, a development company owned by the giant NetEase. A PC exclusive, it can be found on both Steam and the Epic Games Store and is free to play, by the way. And undoubtedly, the game could have done without the bad publicity we are talking about today…

The story of the day is told to us on Reddit: a player named TitoBimbs was playing Once Human when he noticed the presence of an imposter. “We were suddenly attacked out of nowhere by a player who used a teleport hack to land on us. This player continued to use his teleport hack despite being eliminated by me and my friends,” he says on the forum.
After recording a video of the imposter, he decided to notify the moderation via the LT bot provided for this purpose on Discord. And here lies the problem: although he clearly proved that he is an imposter, he was the one who was banned! Although he provided his contact details and profile (which he felt was necessary to confirm his identity), these were interpreted as the profile to be banned. “After a few hours, I was suddenly disconnected and the message appeared on my screen: ‘Your character has been permanently banned.’
Worse still, after a complaint, the Discord bot confirms that it has indeed detected fraudulent behavior on its profile.
Honestly, I have loved this game since I started playing it in co-op with my friends, but after this misunderstanding and recklessness, I have doubts about the reporting system and how requests are handled. I am afraid for other players like me who really want to help the developers and get rid of hackers/scammers who try to destroy the reputation and future of this game. I was a victim of a scammer and a victim of a mistaken review. I hope no one else suffers the same fate as me.
After he insisted, and probably with the advent of his post on Reddit, it eventually turned out that the developers had corrected the situation by reactivating his account. The studio, by the way, promised to review its bot system “to prevent this incident from happening again.”
