This popular sequence will disappear, be careful with the shock

careful, disappear, popular, sequence, shock

A famous sequence from Final Fantasy VII will not be present in FF7 Rebirth. And that might not please some fans who don’t like change.

We’re almost at the end of January and you know what that means. We begin the month of February, which marks the release of FF7 Rebirth. Yes, we talk a lot about the sequel to the 2020 remake, but it has to be said that it is on everyone’s lips. What will change from the original? That’s the big question on fans’ lips. And on that very topic, we just learned that a very specific sequence from the 1997 game would not be present here.

WARNING, the following article contains SPOILERS for FF7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 (the original). You have been warned.

FF7 Rebirth is not a snowboarder

This sequel has the advantage of not remaining in the shadows. Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of FF7 Rebirth, regularly takes part in interviews to talk about the game. Very often he has interesting information to give us without ever going into detail. In short, he knows how to make fans’ mouths water. However, he recently made an announcement that surprised many. A mini-game familiar to players of the original will not be available upon release. You can snowboard here.

Our man made this revelation during an interview for Game Informer. He was asked 129 questions in quick succession and his goal was to give a short answer as quickly as possible. A fun concept that allowed us to learn more about this famous sequence. Will she be in FF7 Rebirth? Here is his answer: “There is no snowboarding in Rebirth.” Will long-time fans cope with the shock? This is clearly a big blow, and some people will find it difficult to swallow the pill.

We’re exaggerating the phrase a bit for humor’s sake, but there’s a reason for this decision. This scene follows a terrible event that would serve as the ending point for FF7 Rebirth, before leaving room for its conclusion in a third work. If you know the story, we’re actually talking about Aerith’s death. So it wouldn’t really fit the mood. In itself it is not impossible to watch the mini-game at the beginning of 3 again. But for the sequel, out February 29th, it’s better to forget it.

Not everything has changed

So yes, from that point of view, fans’ fears are not ready to calm down. What else will Square Enix change in FF7 Rebirth? We already know that Zack is back instead of having died in Crisis Core. He won’t be the only one. However, the studio will keep one mini-game, which is CPR (or RCP in French, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation). The latter was deemed “weird” or “out of place” on multiple occasions, but Hamaguchi confirmed his presence in the sequel. He also clarified that they “changed it slightly.” We’ll see what it’s all about soon.
