One of Disney+’s worst series, which drew heavy criticism from viewers, turns out to be a huge hit. A show that is now gaining significant support.
While all the lights were redder for a 2022 flagship Disney+ series, we’re told it’s going very well.
She-Hulk, a Disney+ success against all odds
Even before its release on Disney+, She-Hulk was sometimes smashed with ridiculous arguments, such as that of the character’s “feminization” – forgetting, by the way, that it’s not a novelty – and others related to the average looks of these production are more understandable. Same story at launch with even harsher viewer criticism while the press was more lenient.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the show receives a score of 93% among professionals who consider it a “worthwhile series”, versus 33% for the public. Ultimately, although laminated, She-Hulk is the most-watched Disney+ Original Series of 2022 on the SVOD service, showing some anticipation. On the other hand, we don’t know the calculation method: could a single watched episode be made compatible to reach this conclusion?
But adding to his Disney Plus success, She-Hulk is now being defended by comics screenwriter Dan Slott.
It’s faithful and successful, and then that’s it
Dan Slott, who has worked for Marvel and DC Comics, has fought back the tide against the Disney+ series. He said on his Twitter account:
To everyone who says the show wasn’t faithful to the comics… I’m the guy who’s written more She Hulk issues than anyone. I’ve read every comic in every publication. And I’ll say this for the record: this series is the most accurate adaptation of the entire MCU.
In another tweet, he also comments on the notorious scene in which Jennifer Walters begins to twerk. For him, it’s the equivalent of the times when she “Bikini Jumping Rope” or when they “Enjoys karaoke, dancing to the point of Avengers Mansion doing structural damage.”.
