One of the shooters on the most mythical rails has just received its relevant remake. We talk about the mythical The House of the Dead from SEGA, originally from arcades in 1996 and a great rival of the no less mythical Time Crisis from Namco.
Available since a couple of days for 22,49 dollars in the Switch eShop (its edition in physical format will arrive at the end of May for 34.99 dollars), this remake considerably improves its graphic section, despite not taking advantage of the power of Nintendo’s hybrid console. No, it doesn’t look like a current game, of course.
But it is clear that if we compare the 1996 classic against this 2022 version the differences are more than palpable, as can be seen in the GameXplain video. The cutscenes are longer and more detailed, the zombies are more defined and we now have a scoreboard and achievements in-game.
Not many more excuses were needed to enjoy this (almost) forgotten arcade classic from the Saturn days without a conversion. And be careful, there is still a long way to go Google Stadia and there are rumors that it could also come out for PS4 using PlayStation Move due to a leak on PSN…
