Is there a nicer word than For free
? Well, probably a lot, in For free
stick anyway costs
inside, but the purpose of this introduction is just to get you in the mood for the Free Weekend like every week: Because this weekend is also available four free games – You can even keep one of them permanently.
But an announcement first: The Steam Next Festival is currently running like every year. As part of this, you can try out hundreds of demos of upcoming games – logically also free of charge. There is, for example, the very exciting building game The Wandering Village, as well as the tough Occupy Mars and the rebirth of the classic: Pharaoh. It’s best to scroll yourself via Steam’s demo overview
So, and now to the temporarily free blockbusters.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Characters of Ragnarok introduced in the Deepdive trailer
Genre: Action-Adventure | developer: Ubisoft | platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series | Release: 10. November 2020 | Accessible: Ubisoft Connect (Uplay) | Promotion end: February 28, 2022
Ubisoft is celebrating the upcoming release of the major Dawn of Ragnarok DLC for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. And what better way to promote the addon than with a free campaign? Until the end of the month you can try AC Valhalla in its entirety for free – of course this only applies to the base game, but you’re on your own with that easily 50 to 60 hours occupied.
In Valhalla you slip into the role of the Viking force of nature Eivor, explore early medieval Great Britain, conquer enemy fortifications, take part in siege battles, expand your own settlement and find lots of keys and explosive vases to unlock new weapons, armor and upgrades. Anyone who has played Assassin’s Creeds since Origins will find their way around here immediately.
After several patches, Valhalla is now in a technically much better condition than when it was released: If you’re in the mood for one of the most opulent current open worlds this weekend, then take a look. It is best to follow this link to the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla free promotion. By the way, all other Assassin’s Creeds are also greatly reduced.
More exciting free games
In addition to AC Valhalla, three other games are free – one on Epic, two on Steam. Let’s break down the candidates.
Free on Epic: You can keep this game forever
- Crystals: On Epic, the role-playing game Cris Tales is completely free. Aimed at genre fans, this love letter to JRPG masterpieces like Chrono Trigger has quite a unique visual appeal. Editor Steffi Schlottag tells you more about this:

Free on Steam: Two games are free this weekend

- Deep Rock Galactic: Our shooter expert Phil Elsner has been hooked on this co-op experience for years. You can find out what makes space dwarfs so exciting here:
