From the console to the PC and from the video game to the television and beyond. 2023 has been a momentous year to take The last of Us beyond PlayStation systems, and no wonder: it’s been 10 years since its debut on PS3. The next stop on Joel and Ellie’s emotional journey, however, we didn’t see coming: Universal Studios will offer a haunted house on Halloween inspired by the work of Naughty Dog.
Starting next September 1 and until October 31, Universal Studios in Orlando will offer an attraction dedicated to The Last of Us among its ten haunted houses on the occasion of the event Halloween Horror Nights 2023. An experience directly based on the video game in which visitors will be exposed to the terror of the clickers and other survivors. The best? They will not be alone in the face of danger.
As Universal has advanced, the groups that participate in the haunted house of The Last of Us they will have to go through (trying not to make noise) a recreation of a devastated Pittsburgh and left to its fate. But what is really interesting is that we will join Joel and Ellie along the tour. Being, for all intents and purposes, the definitive experience for fans of the video game.
At this point it is time to talk about the price: according to the website, reservations for Halloween Horror Nights 2023 are already open, so the night with access to all content per person are $79.99
For its part, Universal continues to have great relationships with video games. Last summer the Halo series premiered, earlier this year the Super Mario Bros. movie created with Nintendo swept the box office and in July we will have the adaptation of Twisted Metal, based on the PlayStation video game, through the Peacock service.
To which we must add that Universal Studios is inaugurating around the world themed areas of Super Nintendo and Mario characters. Of course, what we hope to find about The Last of Us it has nothing to do with offering family fun. Rather, quite the opposite.
