News culture This Wonder Woman film, invented by Zack Snyder, was canceled: it could have revived the DC universe in the cinema
Zack Snyder had envisioned a Wonder Woman movie that unfortunately never came to fruition. This promising idea could have helped revitalize the DC film universe by offering a story that lived up to expectations.
As part of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Zack Snyder came up with an innovative take on Wonder Woman: a story set during the Crimean War in the 19th century. That project, titled Wonder Woman 1854, never saw the light of day, aside from an image Snyder shared on social media showing Gal Gadot as Diana Prince, surrounded by soldiers and with three severed heads. This idea would have immersed the heroine in a historical setting and explored a little-known aspect of her past and adventures.
The imaginary path of Wonder Woman 1854
In an interview with Empire, Snyder revealed that the s tory would have followed Diana on her search for Ares, a character from Greek mythology, who traveled around the world and landed on various battlefields.
The story would have ultimately led to Diana crossing paths with Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine. Snyder mentioned that the idea of using Steve Trevor during the Crimean War was considered. However, Wonder Woman’s narrative path in Snyder’s cinematic universe took a different direction, relegating this project to mere concept status. Despite the lack of a concrete plot, the visual impact of this idea remains impressive, as a single image has captured the imagination of fans.
