As people pay more and more attention to COVID-19, and more and more people stay at home, the number of online users and in-game players on Steam has reached a record high.
As PCGamesN pointed out, SteamDB reported a new concurrent online user record that reached 20 million, of which 6.2 million are online game records "most likely due to #coronavirus causing many people to stay at home".

Counter-Strike: As of press time, the global offensive was the most played game on the platform, followed by DotA 2 and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege. Earlier this month, this 8-year-old game broke Steam's concurrent player record-924,045 players jumped into it at the same time. The number has risen to a peak of 1,024,845.
This is not entirely surprising given the recent increase in teleworking and self-isolation practices for COVID-19. Rockstar, Bungie, EA and Microsoft have all recently announced that they will send employees to work from home. Similarly, almost all large-scale exhibitions and business events held in the first half of this year have been postponed or completely cancelled, including E3 2020, Taipei Game Show 2020, GDC 2020, etc.
