Stalker 2 currently faces a group of hackers willing to make big disclosures if the studio doesn’t comply with their demands.
To say Stalker 2 is difficult to develop is a sad understatement. Since the terrible invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the developers had to face the unthinkable and even had to move part of their premises. Studio GSC Game World also shared a heartbreaking video and some time later one of the developers died on the Ukrainian front.
As if that wasn’t enough, the GSC studio has also been the victim of a whole series of cyber attacks for almost a year. Many files were reportedly stolen and the hackers, some posing as “Russia fans”, are threatening to reveal tens of gigabytes of data if the studio refuses to change certain things stalker 2
The threat of hackers
What set things on fire was a lengthy message to GSC Games in which ‘Russian fans Å gave the studio an ultimatum. If the developers of stalker 2 don’t give in, the hackers will then spread what they have in their hands. The group in question criticizes GSC Games for its decision not to sell its game on Russian and Belarusian territory and not to offer Russian localization. The hacker group believes that GSC should “reconsider its attitude towards players from Belarus and Russia.”
By March 15, we await changes in corporate policy regarding the eligibility and acceptance of your own fans, wherever they come from, as well as the return of RU (Russian) localization, if not by a launch, at least as an add-on.
Do not let STALKER 2 die because of your politicization – stagnation is already being felt very seriously, which means it’s time to start building relationships with the community.
The honest answer from the studio behind Stalker 2
In a detailed statement, GSC confirms that several of its employees have been hacked, threatened and/or intimidated. Attacks that are not isolated as they have been ongoing for more than a year now. The studio isn’t impressed, however, and is asking its community to just ignore the leaks, which could potentially be posted online soon.
We have been exposed to constant cyber attacks for over a year. We have faced blackmail, aggression, hacks, attempts to hurt players and fans, and attempts to damage the development process and our company’s reputation.
We are a non-Ukrainian company and like most Ukrainians, we have experienced many more terrible things: destroyed homes, destroyed lives and deaths of our loved ones, attempts at blackmail or intimidation completely futile. Yes, our unwavering commitment to supporting our country remains unchanged. We will continue to do everything we can to support Ukraine and this will not change under any circumstances in the future. Despite attempts to break ourselves, we remain strong and courageous. Because when you believe in something and love it with all your heart, you have to defend it at all costs.

stalker 2 has been eagerly awaited by gamers for several years. The game is expected to be coming to Xbox Series and PC soon. But at the moment it is difficult to predict when. The game may have been delayed multiple times, but it’s very hard to blame them here.
