Tinder’s Elo Score keeps causing discussions on the internet. The dating app no longer uses him. We’ll tell you what the mysterious value is all about.
- The Elo Score was a calculated value that could define the popularity of your profile.
- The number of likes and the time in which the app was actively used, among other things, influenced the Elo score.
- Today, Tinder uses a new algorithm that puts more emphasis on simultaneous use and location.
The match system that Tinder works with is very complex and designed to give you the best possible matches. For this, Tinder worked with the Elo Score until 2019 – a numerical value that indicated the popularity of your profile and depended on how often your profile was displayed to other users.
This system has not been used for several years. Nevertheless, there are still all sorts of speculations and myths about it on the Internet. We will therefore tell you below how the Elo score worked, how you could influence the score and how Tinder works today.
Elo Score – that’s behind it
In short, the Elo score is a numeric one, meaning a numerical value that each profile was assigned to. The score differed depending on various factors. The relevant criteria for the Elo Score included the following:
- Active use of the app
- quality of the photos
- Swipe behavior of other users on your profile
- How many profiles you swipe right
- Like-to-Match-Ratio
- Response count in chat
- Duration and number of messages in the chat
- Amount of information in the profile
Tinder calculated your Elo Score from the factors mentioned above and some other unknown factors. The company has never shared the exact calculation basis with its users in order to maintain a certain authenticity and to prevent its own score from being manipulated. It was also not possible to see the exact score.
Elo score is irrelevant today
A was released in March 2019 Tinder-Blogpost, in which the current functioning of the algorithm was explained at least a little. In it, the company writes that Elo no longer plays a role in the evaluation and ranking of user profiles. It is an outdated and outdated system that does not meet modern requirements.
Also interesting…
Today, Tinder claims to rank profiles much more strongly according to user activity. The longer each day the app is used regularly, the higher the probability of getting new matches. The location-based proximity to other users as well as likes and nopes and specified interests now also play a greater role – without resorting to a static rating number.
