It might make you tremble when I tell you Mario Kart DS It was my first experience with Mario Kart. I later visited the N64 version and (of course) will continue to use the Wii version a lot. But Mario Kart DS will always hold the most special place in my heart.
Growing up, I did a lot of traveling between my parents. I still do it, but not as often as I should. Anyway, you better believe my Nintendo DS and trusty R4 card are everywhere – what’s better on a long car trip than a racing game about fast cars and Nintendo superstars?
While I’ve never had as much fun playing solo as I did racing my friends at school, I must have spent hours documenting time trials over the years.I was probably better off then than I am now, though I hate to insist I would one day
and Valuigi Pinball Remember, I think it’s important that on the anniversary of Mario Kart DS, we reflect on one of Mario Kart DS’s best original tracks. Waluigi Pinball is one of my all time favorites. Only the likes of Moo Moo Meadows and Coconut Mall even come close to how good the home of Luigi’s lanky competitor is.
First, the Waluigi Pinball track takes place on a large, dynamic pinball machine. Is there anything more confusing than this? I can imagine people screaming “Rainbow Road!” at me now, but unfortunately, I don’t care to listen. Waluigi Pinball beats Rainbow Road, over. Sharp turns, curves, obnoxious noises and neon lights – it’s all too swanky, isn’t it?
Anyway, while you’re zooming in on the track and probably neglecting to admire the view (considering you’re probably trying to beat that pesky ghost or the CPU), the stadium is adorned with beautiful neon lights and metallic spheres. Eventually, you’ll be able to bolt (or drive) between pinballs, bumpers, and other players as you race along the pinboard itself and into another tunnel. All of a sudden, all the colors and shapes are less pretty and more annoying.
Honestly, Waluigi Pinball is closer to cyberpunk than the Mario Kart track, and just recently, an improved version of the track was added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I thoroughly enjoyed letting my non-Mario Kart friends try it on their first song , luring them in with the promise of “at least it’s not Rainbow Road” and then killing them in-game; barbaric I know , but I have to show my friends the Mario Kart boss. Waluigi Pinball is also a great track to show those who rarely play it that Mario Kart is more fun than simply going around in circles.
Let’s also not forget that this song is when Waluigi shines, and he’s certainly one of the more chaotic characters in the series – causing trouble wherever he goes. As something essentially “Bad Luigi,” it’s no wonder the phantom giant has us piloting a pinball machine in his own racially abusive death trap.
He’ll love The Sims.
