The reason given is that JRR Tolkien was a devout Catholic whose memory does not need to be tarnished with nudity. The “The Lord of the Rings” series should be family-friendly.
It is more than questionable whether this petition can still influence the current production of the first season of Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings” series (and whether the whole thing is of any interest to Amazon). Season 1 is likely to have already been shot or is in the final stages of filming – and Rumor has it that it will appear on Amazon Prime Video this Christmas.
