Netflix had a few surprises in store for Geeked Weekend and one of them is called Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. What’s that all about?
We are still able to experience this, Sam Fisher is actually celebrating his return. After the game series has been dormant for years and has only attracted attention through rumors of remakes, Netflix is going one step further.
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Deathwatch was officially announced via a teaser at Geeked Weekend. It is a new animated series from Netflix and Ubisoft Film & Television that is set to launch “soon”. Information is still quite sparse at the moment, but more is to follow.
The description states: “Inspired by the Splinter Cell video game series, Deathwatch follows Sam Fisher, an elite member of the US government’s secret Fourth Echelon division. Derek Kolstad (John Wick) is the lead screenwriter and executive producer of the series, which is directed by Guillame Dousse and Félicien Colmet-Daage. Helene Juguet, Hugo Revon and Gérard Guillemot of Ubisoft Film & Television also served as executive producers.”
It is also already clear who will be voicing good Sammy in the original, namely the actor Liev Schreiber, known from countless films and the series Ray Donovan. It remains to be seen whether Marco Kröger or Tobias Kluckert will voice him again in the German version.
A good day for fans of animated series based on video games, especially since it was confirmed at the event that there will also be a new series for Cyberpunk 2077 and a new Witcher series, Sirens of the Deep, will start on February 11th. Devil May Cry will also be there, and an animated series for it will also start in April.
