Recently there were rumors about a cancellation, but what is really the status of the remake of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell? Now there is new information!
The remake of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, which was actually already announced, has been very quiet lately. This has sometimes led to speculation in one place or another on the internet that the project will be quietly discontinued.
Luckily, according to a new exclusive report from Insider Gaming, that’s not the case! Accordingly, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell is still in the works under the code name North. This report also contains some further information about the remake.
The sources of the usually very well-informed insiders have also confirmed that the remake is being developed based on the Snowdrop Engine. For comparison: The previous Splinter Cell games relied on Unreal Engine 3 or Unreal Engine 2.5. The in-house Snowdrop engine is much more advanced and was used, among other things, for the Ubisoft titles Tom Clancy’s The Divison 2, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws.
The remake of the stealth action classic was originally confirmed in December 2021. Since then, there have been hardly any official updates on the title, which is being developed at Ubisoft Toronto. On the other hand, shortly after the announcement, producer Matt West also emphasized that the game is still in the early stages of development and is being redeveloped from the ground up.
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell does not have a release date, but the reporters’ sources currently suggest 2026 as a potential release period. However, changes are still possible.
