On Monday evening, Ubisoft presented a new game in a livestream. We’ll tell you what’s behind Tom Clancy’s XDefiant.
Today, Monday evening, Ubisoft introduced its new action title: Tom Clancy’s XDefiant is a free first-person shooter that combines factions and characters from The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell. The title is currently being developed at Ubisoft San Francisco for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna and PC via Ubisoft Connect. Crossplay should be available at the start.
In Tom Clancy’s XDefiant 6v6 arena battles await you, for which you join one of four groups: Cleaners and Outcasts from The Division, Echelon from Splinter Cell and Wolves from Ghost Recon. You can customize your character with a variety of primary and secondary weapons, attachments and gadgets to suit your style. Then you fight for victory in competitive modes like Team Deathmatch or Domination as well as linear modes like Escort and Zone Control.
The cards available, as well as the abilities of the factions, are inspired by the three game series. The Wolves represent the tank class and use shields, the cleaners attack with fire as an assault class, the outcasts are healers and Echelon act as a support class that reveals enemy positions.
According to the well-known live service model, the shooter is to be regularly updated with new content, including maps and modes. An initial test phase is planned for August 5th in the USA and Canada. There is no European date yet, but you can do so on the website sign up for more Tom Clancy’s XDefiant news.
