After the first remaster trilogy, three more Tomb Raider classics are now coming in a new look. The release date has also already been set.
After the release of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, it could almost be assumed that there would be new editions of classic parts of the action series – and that’s what is happening now. Aspyr has now confirmed the next revised comebacks with Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered, which will come onto the market next year 2025.
Anyone who would like to experience the earlier parts again or for the first time in a modern guise can look forward to the parts The Last Revelation, Chronicles and Angel of Darkness in the new trilogy. These will be released on February 14, 2025 at a price of $30 for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
The oldest of the three classics is Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation from 1999, in which Lara Croft finds the tomb of the ancient Egyptian god Set and thereby triggers the consequences of an ancient prophecy. Tomb Raider: Chronicles is from the year 2000. Lara Croft is buried in an Egyptian tomb and is presumed dead. Angel of Darkness is ultimately from 2003, whereby Lara Croft is accused of murder and has to uncover a conspiracy.
All three parts receive upgraded and modernized graphics in the remaster, but you can also display the earlier graphics using a switch. The controls have been adjusted and you can expect smoother movements and adjusted camera settings. A photo mode and quality-of-life improvements such as health bars for bosses or support for trophies and achievements round off the innovations.
Meanwhile, the Tomb Raider franchise has also reached a major milestone: Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that the games within the series have now sold over 100 million copies worldwide!
