Over the past few months, Torchlight Frontiers has undergone major design changes.
Perfect World Announces Torchlight Frontiers Renamed Flashlight 3. Frontiers was first released as a free game in August 2018, but Torchlight 3 will be a paid game.
For the same reason, the original always-online concept has been abandoned and a more traditional online / offline approach has been adopted. Of course, Torchlight 3 will support cooperatives, but it no longer has the common world vision of Frontiers.
The structure of the improved game will be very similar to the previous game, with a more linear development, allowing you to explore different worlds and improve your character.
Torchlight 3 will launch on Steam this summer, and beta testing will begin tomorrow.
"During the development process, you often find the product type of the game, and we find that Torchlight Frontiers can truly replace Torchlight 1 and 2," said Max Schaefer, CEO of Echtra Games.
"Based on extensive feedback from our Alpha testers, we decided it was time to return the game to its roots and model the classic Torchlight game that ARPG fans love."
