Creative Assembly (CA), the developer of hits like Alien Isolation or the Total War series, announced the founding of a new studio on Twitter. The team is based in Newcastle, England. It is said to already be working with the core team in Sussex on a previously unannounced game.
At the same location there is also a team that goes by the name Continuous Improvement
(in English: continuous improvement) is listed. According to CA, your task should be to help optimize tools, work processes and development experience across the company.

One company, several studios
Newcastle is not the first expansion: in 2017 Creative Assembly Sofia was established in the Bulgarian capital. The company had previously operated as Black Sea Studios since 2001. In 2008, Crytek bought the studio and renamed it Crytek Black Sea before it was acquired by Creative Assembly a few years ago and renamed it to its current name.
For example, the team has been behind the spinoff Troy: A Total War Saga ever since.
What is the new team working on in England? Unfortunately, this is still completely unclear. As per the tweet, they haven’t said a word about the game so far. The cooperation with the headquarters in Sussex does not have to indicate anything specific either.
The following seems to be in the works at CA at the moment, although the security of the information varies:
- Pretty sure new content for Total War: Warhammer 3
- Sure: The multiplayer shooter Hyenas, which is planned for release in 2023
- Probably a second part in ancient China, so a kind of successor to Three Kingdoms
- In addition, there are a number of projects that have not been communicated in more detail, as is now the case with the new team in Newcastle.
CA is currently releasing new products for Total War: Warhammer 3, such as the new expansion Forge of the Chaos Dwarf.
However, the expansion makes one thing more than clear: Creative Assembly does not want to rest on the laurels of Total War: Warhammer 3, but rather wants to increase the number of hits. Maybe that’s a glimmer of hope for fans who have been waiting longingly for Medieval 3 for years.
What do you expect from the new studio? Would you like an Alien Isolation 2? Or should CA try a whole new setting for its Total War series? Tell us in the comments!
