The vice president of Marvel Games spoke about the idea of having an MCU for both video games and films or series. Will Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Marvel’s Wolverine, or even EA’s Iron Man project share a universe?
With every Marvel game released or in production, everyone wondered if the company wanted to create an MGU, Marvel Gaming Universe, to emulate the MCU.
Soon a Marvel Gaming Universe for the MCU?
The answer will likely disappoint fans, but no, there won’t be an MCU equivalent for Marvel video games. Bill Rosemann, vice president and creative director of Marvel Games, commented on this in an interview.
The world is surprisingly very familiar with and accepting of the multiverse. There are all these different realities and we wants to give everyone the freedom to tell their story. We don’t want to tell them “You can’t blow up the moon because this game from another studio needs the moon”. We want to give everyone the freedom and the means to tell their story.
The developers of Insomniac Games with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine, of Motive Studio for their game Iron Man or the creators of Uncharted with its title involving Captain America and Black Panther need not question their respective work, to integrate them into the same universe. A point that will perhaps exonerate others who are tired of having to watch every Marvel movie or series to see all the intricacies.
