Toys For Bob may no longer be owned by Activision and Microsoft, but it is working with Xbox on its next game.
Back in March, Toys For Bob announced that it would be going independent, no longer tied to the Call of Duty franchise. Later that month, reports emerged that the studio had signed a deal for its next game with Microsoft, a company that ironically no longer owns the studio. Now, Toys For Bob has confirmed via its official Twitter account that it has signed a publishing deal with Xbox, though there isn’t much else to say. “We’re excited to announce that we will be partnering with Xbox to publish our next new game,” the post reads. “We’re still in the very early stages of development, so you may not hear from us for a while – but know that we’re hard at work on an experience that we’re deeply inspired by! Can’t wait to share more.”

You can check out the tweet above for yourself, and you might notice that it looks particularly purple. Unsurprisingly, this quickly prompted fans to speculate that Toys For Bob was hinting at a new Spyro game, something many have been waiting for years. It’s worth noting that Toys For Bob developed the Skylanders series when it wasn’t even out yet, and later went on to produce the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, which gave them a solid foundation to make a new Spyro game. Partnering with Xbox was obviously a necessary step as well, as the console maker owns the rights to the Spyro series since its acquisition of Activision.

Toys For Bob’s latest game (if you ignore its work on Modern Warfare 3) is Crash Team Rumble, a multiplayer live service game that stopped receiving updates in March, presumably due to its mixed reviews and overall lack of a player base.
