The Disney & Marvel Games Showcase opened with a surprise. This conference, which is part of the D23, has indeed unveiled a brand new video game set in the TRON universe.
The return of TRON
If you’re a sci-fi fan, you’ve probably heard of TRON. His universe was born in 1982 with the film of the same name. It then unfolded through many sequels, but also through video games. It’s also natural for the franchise to lean towards our medium since its hero, Kevin Flynn, is a video game developer after all.
And the least we can say is that there was something for everyone and for all eras. Arcade, Wii, PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Game Boy Advance… Choose your support, there will definitely be a TRON game released… at least before the PS3/Xbox 360 generation. The latest one is indeed TRON: Evolution from 2011 released for PS3, PC, PSP and Xbox 360. Suffice it to say that fans of the license haven’t eaten in quite a while. Well, that’s about to change, and quite surprising.
TRON: Identity, a surprising adaptation
In addition to TRON’s neon universe, the previous games had one thing in common: they were all more or less action-oriented. But that won’t be the case TRON: Identity, the game developed by Bithell Games (John Wick Hex, Thomas Was Alone) and announced during the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase at D23. The title is indeed presented as a visual novel with mystery game elements. It will be released on PC in 2023 and thanks to its Steam page we know how the story will be.
See you in a new grid, sadly abandoned by its creator. But now a great theft has just taken place in the latter, a theft of mysterious data. You play a detective program called Query and your goal is to find the culprit. But, you guessed it, nothing can be trusted in this unstable grid. And yet, You have to make the right choices as they will affect your adventure and the characters you will meet. Note that this mysterious tale is supported by handcrafted illustrations of the goddess.
