For the 2023 model year, Specialized announces the first innovation: The Turbo Tero X series comes with full suspension and powerful engines.
- The Turbo Tero X is Specialized’s first SUV e-bike.
- It should be a model for very different requirement profiles.
- The motors are up to 90 Newton meters strong.
So-called SUV bikes were already in demand last year and regularly made it into our e-bike highlights. Models like the Charger4 from Riese & Müller (test report) are also simply practical. They are just as good for commuting to work as they are for trips into the woods. In the 2023 model year, Specialized also wants to get involved and is introducing the Turbo Tero X.

The e-mountain bike from the Americans comes with full street-ready equipment, i.e.: LED lighting, mudguards, kickstand and luggage rack. The suspension travel is impressive at 130 millimeters at the front and 120 millimeters at the rear, even if it is not a piece of sports equipment for the bike park.
The manufacturer offers three variants of the Turbo Tero to choose from. What they all have in common is the 12-speed gear system (SRAM) and the hydraulic disc brakes. A dropper post with handlebar remote control is also part of the superior standard equipment. The weight is around 26 kilograms, but varies depending on the equipment variant.

E-bike innovations of the year
There are differences in the drive and the battery, among other things. The entry-level model, called the Tero X 4.0, has a mid-mounted motor (Specialized) with 50 Newton meters of torque and a 530-Wh battery. One step higher, with the Turbo Tero X 5.0, the motor has an output of 70 Newton meters and the battery capacity increases to 710 watt hours.
The top model Turbo Tero X 6.0 drives to your farm with the same battery, but with a 90 Newton meter strong Brose motor. There is also an anti-theft device that can be activated via app, including an alarm function and GPS tracking, which we already know in a crazy form from the wild Urtopia carbon bike.
price and availability
For the base model Specialized Turbo Tero X 4.0, the manufacturer calls for a recommended retail price of 4,350 dollars. The top model costs 6,200 dollars. At the Manufacturer gives all the details. We present other e-bike innovations of the season in the linked overview.
