It’s fair to say that Forza hasn’t been loved by many players since its launch last October, and Turn 10’s new update, which aims to fix some of the game’s biggest issues, doesn’t seem to be doing much. A path to redemption.
The latest entry in Turn 10 Studios’ Xbox flagship racing series has attracted a lot of criticism from Xbox and PC players since it burst into our lives on October 10, with its Steam reviews remaining “mostly negative” in the interim. With everything from graphical glitches to the game’s entire progression system not going well, getting things back on track will be a difficult task, and Turn 10’s first proper attempt didn’t go well.

“We started the year by thanking you for your support and feedback since launch, reflecting on some of the things we’ve learned and sharing what you can do,” the studio wrote in its first FM update of 2024. Next Looking forward to our performance in the coming months. “
It goes on to say: “While we’ve been hard at work adding cars, tracks, patches and other improvements [to the game], we’d like to acknowledge the first three areas of feedback that we didn’t address directly first – so here’s what we heard from you. ” The update then discusses issues players have discovered with the game’s racing progression mechanics, in-race penalty systems and “overly aggressive” AI drivers.
While the update notes that these and other issues highlighted are “continuously researched, iterated on, and carefully considered,” much of the FM community feels these efforts either don’t go far enough or don’t go far enough. It’s too late.
“[They’re] Basically acknowledging the very limited number of the game’s biggest problems, making them sound less serious than they actually are, and not even explaining their plans to fix them, except [saying] “We’re working on it,” one user wrote on the game’s Reddit subreddit.
“These are three of the four biggest elements of marketing for this game, and they’re all broken,” they continued. “The biggest element [is] The visuals are the most obvious downgrade, but are completely ignored [here]”.
“My biggest issue is still the poor career mode and the lack of mention of it,” said another player on ResetEra, voicing some concerns that echoed other racers in the thread.
Meanwhile, some players on Reddit expressed their frustration with the lack of apology for the state of the game at launch or explanation as to why the issues were not discovered and addressed before the game was released.
In the update, Turn 10 said it’s committed to “releasing quarterly updates like this one to let you know where we stand on projects the community is passionate about,” so we’ll have to wait and see if this strategy works.
