Two of the best Lord of the Rings games are currently 85 percent cheaper

cheaper, Games, Lord, percent, Rings

The two best Lord of the Rings games of all time are now massively discounted: The Lord of the Rings: Conquest and Heroes of Middle Earth Mobile.

Ha, got it – some of you probably promptly dropped the Lembas in your coffee, the two are definitely not among the best Lord of the Rings games. But there are actually two very good LotR titles on Steam that are pretty drastically discounted; and depending on your taste even more than just two. So let’s take a look.

Which games are currently reduced?

As part of Steam’s Midweek Madness there’s a so-called Wintry Middle-earth action, as part of which various Lord of the Rings games are reduced. Below as highlights:

  • Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – The Origin of the Legendary Nemesis System. As the undead ranger Talion, you not only conquer a Ubisoft-style open world, but also infiltrate the orc hosts of Mordor, because the procedurally generated generals attack you all with their own personalities, their own quirks and so on. Price: 5 Euro (reduced from 20 dollars).
  • Middle-earth: Shadow of War – The successor expands this system enormously. Once again you roam an open world, fight your way through orcs, sneak, climb, attack and infiltrate, but also set up your own ork army with even more variety and possibilities than in the predecessor. Price: 6 Euro (reduced from 40 dollars).

There’s also a big discount on the LEGO games for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit:

  • LEGO Lord of the Rings combines the LotR movie license with the well-known LEGO principle: you choose from dozens of characters, jump, fight and puzzle your way through all possible locations of the trilogy and have a lot of fun solo or in co-op. Price: 5 Euro (reduced from 20 dollars).
  • LEGO The Hobbit provides the same service for the Hobbit films but only covers the first two Hobbit films. The third part was originally planned as a DLC, but was then scrapped. Still, the little open world in The Hobbit is a pretty cool thing. Price: 5 Euro (reduced from 20 dollars).

By the way, you can too both middle-earth shadow games with all DLCs shoot in the shadow pack bundle. Then you pay a total of only 10.50 dollars (and save around 60 bags).

Why is this more worthwhile than ever?

It seems like a bizarre relic of the past these days, but Shadow of War in particular came out in 2017 at a time when publishers were experimenting pretty wildly with loot boxes and microtransactions. And this game hit it particularly hard: At the release you could get new orcs for your army from loot boxes pull – and these were especially important for the big battles after completing the campaign to reach the actual end of the game for balancing reasons:

At the time, that caused quite a stir about what was actually a very good game – so much so that the developers had to backtrack and patch out all the loot boxes. But the damage was done, Shadow of War got quite a bit of an image break, which today – six years later – no longer plays a role at all.

Because the game is now running very, very smoothly with all DLCs, umpteen patches and, above all, without loot boxes. With modern hardware, you can conjure up one of the most beautiful Lord of the Rings games on your screen, so be sure to get involved. It’s not like there are many good alternatives for Lord of the Rings fans on the gaming front.
