Ubisoft has apparently been working on a still secret new project for several years. In the meantime, however, this was stamped out before the official announcement.
The Ubisoft Montreal branch, which has largely worked on a number of branches of the successful Assassin's Creed series, but also has its fingers in the hands of Far Cry and Watch_Dogs, has apparently put several years of work in the sand. As has now become known, the Assassin's Creed team has been working behind the scenes for three years on a new, yet unannounced project that is no longer being pursued.
The message was confirmed via Twitter by Louis de Carufel, a programmer at Ubisoft. "I just became aware that a project I had been working on for the past three years had been discontinued. This is hard news because I have been working with the people involved for a total of around seven years. During this time we have both Watch_Dogs and also released Watch_Dogs 2 ", says Caroufel.
After all: According to Carufel, the numerous employees who worked on the mysterious Ubisoft project were not fired, but assigned to other projects at the studio. Numerous because, according to the programmer, more than 200 (!) Developers had worked on the unannounced game.
The well-known Kotaku insider Jason Schreier took up the message and revealed some information about the project. Accordingly, it should not be the Pioneer teasered in Watch_Dogs 2, because that was stamped out some time ago. It should also not have been a new Splinter Cell. Rather, Schreier reports of a new IP that could best have been compared to Destiny and that would have been a live service game.
