Ubisoft wants to show that e-sports is not only dominated by young players. For this, the video game company plans to produce a feature film in collaboration with Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein Seniors as professional gamers turns.
Based on a real template
For the implementation, Ubisoft secured the rights to an article from the Wall Street Journal from 2019 "Silver Snipers" reports – an e-sports team, whose members are all older than 60 years.
You call yourself that »First professional senior CS: GO team« and consist of the five players Windy, BirDie, El_Nino, Knitting Knight and Trigger Finger. At Dreamhack 2019, they also won the first e-sports World Cup for seniors.
The project is being produced by Jason Altman, director of Ubisoft Film and Television, and Margaret Boykin, who is responsible for the Film Development department. To what extent the film is based on reality and how the Silver Snipers are represented in it has not yet been explained. The company has not yet given a title or even a release date.
Seniors in video games
Elderly people who have anything to do with gaming, are well received. Ubisoft itself caught the eye with an early gameplay video on Watch Dogs: Legion. Using the example of the badass grandma Helen, they showed that you can also fight in the upcoming Open World title with seniors. This fact was celebrated especially on social networks.
Shirley Curry, better known as the "Skyrim Grandma", is also very popular. The 83-year-old has already been on YouTube more than 819,000 subscribers and regularly publishes new Let's Plays there. In The Elder Scrolls 6 she is supposed to become an official NPC. If you don't want to wait until the release, you can add them as a companion in Skyrim thanks to the mod.

The Ubisoft film business
Ubisoft has been in the film business for a long time. In 2010, a feature film for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was released, and in 2016 Assassin's Creed was released. At the end of 2019, the studio also said that it had found a director to implement Rabbids.
In addition, work is currently underway on a TV series for The Division with Jake Gyllenhaal. That should appear on Netflix in the future. But she doesn't have a release date yet.
