Attention Super Earth warriors! The latest patch for Hellraiser 2 has been deployed on PC, and PS5 will follow soon. What does it do? Well, on the face of it, fighting on a hostile planet is more dangerous.
Before you ask, no, this is not an update bringing mechs to the game, although they are now officially confirmed to be ready for deployment “soon.” It does include some pretty important changes, though, especially if you’re a weather fan or have been worried about things like armor bugs and (god forbid) weapon balancing.

As mentioned in the notes for minor patch 01.000.100, its main highlight is the addition of some “planetary hazards” and “additional environmental challenges” to certain worlds, which seem to make your combat more intense. For example, the latter “will appear randomly when you deploy” and range from “fire tornadoes to meteor showers and more.”
Yeah, maybe you might need to get a mech backup ASAP. In addition to unleashing some flaming whirlwinds on your ass, the patch also modifies eradication missions to “require more kills and more frequent enemy spawns.” “Tasks that previously took less time to complete than expected now often take twice as long to complete,” Arrow notes.

Beyond that, there’s plenty of weapon balancing – affected guns are listed – and the usual slew of bug fixes. The most notable of these is the correction of the armor class value not reducing damage as expected, an issue that has been plaguing people since the game’s launch. Other key changes include, from now on: “Helldivers standing next to an ICBM during launch will become very hot and potentially less spontaneously combustible.” OK.
You also shouldn’t find certain wormholes that are “unnecessarily difficult to destroy,” be able to throw grenades after drowning, or be unable to throw snowballs after being ragdolled. The lighting has also undergone some changes, so there shouldn’t be a chance of ending up in a dark hellscape next time you drop.
The patch has already been released on PC, and Arrowhead says the PS5 version is “coming soon.”
In other Hellraiser 2-related news, Sony is not acquiring Arrowhead Game Studios, no matter what rumors you’ve heard.
