Most recently, The Last of Us: Part II was re-released for the PlayStation 5 and optimized accordingly. Something similar could possibly happen to us with regards to the very first Uncharted from Naughty Dog.
According to a new rumor, there is apparently a possibility that Uncharted: Drake’s Fate could also be remade as part of a remake. Accordingly, the first game in Naughty Dog’s popular action-adventure series should also be optimized for the PlayStation 5 and then shine in new splendor, after The Last of Us: Part II was recently released as a remaster for the PS5.
The first installment was originally released in 2007 as an exclusive title for the PlayStation 3 and marked the beginning of one of the largest franchises in Sony’s history, spawn ing multiple sequels and spin-offs across multiple console generations. This first part already received good reviews, even if the sequels did even better with critics.
Uncharted: Darkes Fortune had previously been updated for the PlayStation 4 by Bluepoint as part of the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. At that time, the fights were also redesigned somewhat to be more in line with those in the other series offshoots Among Thieves and Drake’s Deception. The graphics had also been optimized for the PS4 – and now things could go one step further as part of a PS5 remake.
Corresponding information has now been provided as part of the podcast Xbox Era public, in which the usually well-informed insiders Nick Baker and Jon Clarke spoke out about a remake. A corresponding proposal for this was said to have been made some time ago and according to their information, Sony was “strongly considering” such a remake.
It remains to be seen whether such a remake will actually be released in the end. However, Naughty Dog’s previous successful titles have often been used for such processes, even if the actual development work is ultimately outsourced. Even if the possible PS5 remake doesn’t come along in the end: thanks to the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and the console’s backwards compatibility, you can also play the PS4 version on the PS5.
