Sony apparently wants to establish its own big game brands in the future in the TV and series sector. Several projects have now been confirmed.
Sony is known to own numerous well-known first-party brands that you know from PlayStation. The best known are certainly Uncharted, The Last of Us or God of War. Many of them could apparently make the leap to TV or the big screen in the future.
Background: Sony Pictures wants to feed its own TV and film productions from the video game sector under the umbrella term “One Sony”. Speaking to CNBC, CEO Tony Vinciquerra has confirmed that there is more than just the film adaptation of Uncharted and the HBO series for The Last of Us in the works.
Which other brands will be implemented as series or film was not specifically known, but the number is impressive: A total of 3 films and 7 TV shows based on PlayStation games are currently in the works at Sony Pictures. As a result of these efforts, the company’s own brands should generally be increasingly guided into the future.
“We don’t have a very specific plan yet, but we have a program within the company called One Sony. You will see much greater integration of the Sony companies together,” continued Vinciquerra.
The question remains: Which game brands, far from Uncharted and The Last of Us, could you imagine as a series or film? In addition to God of War, Ghost of Tsushima would also be conceivable, right?
