Bad prospects: The visibility in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare continues to cause player criticism. On Reddit, a post has picked up a lot of speed on the Problems of dust and sunlight indicates.
Here, a player reports a situation in which his opponent could clearly see him, but he had only seen the red name plate. As proof, he inserts screenshots of the game scene:
Shooting enemy name days. I think it's time to fix this issue., It's been here since day 1. The sun is the only light source and combined with all the air dust it makes enemies invisible. My view should be the exact same as the enemy. This ruins the game. (Xbox X) from r / modern warfare
It can be seen that the figure of the player appears clearly visible on the right side of the replay. However, no figure can be seen on the left. Accordingly, it is hardly surprising that the player on the right side was able to win the fight.
However, the player does not seem to be alone with the problem. The Reddit contribution comes up almost 25,000 upvotes and reveals over 1200 comments that confirm poor visibility in some situations.
How can it come to that?
To experience scenes like this in CoD: Modern Warfare, you basically just have to play a dusty map. The combination of dust in the air and slanting sun rays then creates a bright veil that is difficult to see through. Players are asking developer Infinity Ward to address this issue as soon as possible in the comments.
What are the pros? Unfair situations like this have actually lost nothing in a competitive shooter that should create the same conditions for all players and in all game situations.
What speaks against it? Possible developer countermeasures would likely be at the expense of graphical realism. After all, the visibility in the real world is not always the same and depends on sunshine, clean air and other factors.
