Unreal Engine 5 is certainly the most beautiful video game engine today. And he demonstrates it again with a brand new video. A real treat for the retina.
Once again, Unreal Engine 5 amazes us by demonstrating its full potential. This time a video produced by Digital Dreams immerses us in a tropical forest under pouring rain. The weather and geography are reminiscent of those our heroes endured in the very first Jurassic Park, particularly during the famous tropical storm that contributed to the park’s demise. In summary, it’s really impressive.
Unreal Engine 5 is amazing
With this new video, eloquently named “Virtual Forest Walk,” we actually feel like we’re in the middle of Isla Nublar, expecting a dinosaur to emerge from a bush at any minute to devour “the camera.” If part of the Jurassic Park Survival game takes place in an open or semi-open world, this is exactly how it should look. At least that’s what the fans long for. Check out the incredible work done on textures, lighting effects and even rain. It’s just amazing.
The Unreal Engine Update 5.3, launched in September 2023, represented a notable advance over previous versions, bringing significant improvements to rendering, development, and virtual production tools. New experimental rendering, animation and simulation features have also been introduced, providing cinema-level volumetric rendering capabilities.
Several highly anticipated titles are planning to utilize this advanced technology, including the upcoming Tomb Raider, the remake of The Witcher, and STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, scheduled for release on September 5, 2024. However, the use of Unreal Engine 5.3 is not systematically envisaged. Although it guarantees a visual quality comparable to technical demonstrations, it still points to a promising aesthetic potential for these games. In any case, we can expect the games to look more and more like the above. Very clearly.
