More details, more believable physics, natural motion: the Unreal Engine 5 doesn’t skimp on technical improvements. In the latest developer video, Epic Games presents the innovations with which developers can produce games in the future.
Interested parties can now try out for themselves how this works. The Unreal Engine 5 is now available in Early Access. The new UE5 can be downloaded and installed as a test version in the Epic Games Launcher. This means that developers can already familiarize themselves with some of the new features.
The future of the Unreal Engine
The new video is also exciting for normal players. Not only do we get an interesting look at how games are made with Unreal Engine 5, we also see some of the impressive new features. For example, movement of characters in which the posture dynamically adapts to the ground.

What the Unreal Engine 5 shows for gamers
Particularly interesting for players: The “Animation Motion Warping” feature, which adapts the movement of game characters to the respective environment. In the video from 09:16 the protagonist jumps over obstacles of different heights, which seems very precise, fluid and natural.
Also nice to see: A gigantic colossus wakes up at 10:12, the mechanical components of which are individually animated and full of details. As a result, the opponent fires a beam of energy, which in turn should include the position of the game figure. The UE5 enables entire animations to be dynamically adapted to player inputs.
From 12:20 p.m., Epic explains how sound effects that match the images can be implemented with the Unreal Engine 5. Then the character pulls the boss off his feet, which leads to a spectacular fall animation.
How much of it will actually make it into games one day remains to be seen. Epic has already talked about the limits of the new engine:

Technical features of UE 5
Epic Games also explains the innovations of the Unreal Engine 5. Including the Lighting technology Lumen, the integration of Quixel Bridge and how the game worlds can be divided into different partitions for work.
With the new Nanite technology a new system finds its way into the UE5, the aim of which is to increase the level of detail and thereby achieve the highest possible performance.
The user interface of Unreal Engine 5 relies even more on the Handling more intuitive to design. For example, the content browser was integrated directly into the UI, which should enable more holistic use. Nevertheless, most of the elements should be found in the usual places.
You probably still remember the first video from Unreal Engine 5, which among other things contains the complex physics calculation shows off:
