The first patch for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree was released less than a week ago. Developer FromSoftware is making the DLC launch a little easier and is at least indirectly responding to fan criticism.
The adjustments affect the Blessing of the Shadow Realm and also fix a bug in the graphics settings of the PC version.
Update 1.12.2 makes DLC launch easier
The adjustments affect one of the new mechanics from Shadow of the Erdtree. In the DLC, you collect so-called Scadu Tree Fragments, which you can use to upgrade the blessing of the Shadow Realm.
This blessing has two effects, firstly it increases the damagewhich you cause, on the other hand it reduces the damagethat you suffer. The update changes the following:
- Bis half The maximum upgrade from the fragments increases the damage and the damage reduction. The same applies to the
Revered Ghost Ash
received improvements to your spirit companions. - Die final upgrade from Scadu Tree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ash has also been increased.
In short: Especially at the beginning of the DLC you benefit from better effects through the blessing of the Shadow Realm and the improved spirit companions.

Reaction to criticism
Although FromSoftware or publisher Bandai Namco do not explicitly mention it in the Patch Notes mentioned, but the adjustments fix a problem some players are having.
Shadow of the Erdtree, for example, was criticized in Steam reviews as being “too difficult,” but this is no longer entirely the case thanks to the update.
Raytracing error
Fixed a bug that caused ray tracing on PC automatically activated was when data was loaded from an older game version. This could lead to a unstable frame rate lead.
The blog post with the patch notes states that further bug fixes and balance adjustments are planned for future updates. No further details are given.
The update makes it a little easier to get started with Shadow of the Erdtree. Do you think this change is necessary or has the game been just right in terms of difficulty so far? Feel free to write in the comments.
