Warcraft 3 is considered one of the best strategy games of all time – also in our GameStar ranking. A worthy candidate for a new edition. But Blizzard’s remake, Warcraft 3: Reforged, fell far short of the players’ expectations. In our test, it was also punished with one of the highest devaluations in GameStar history, which was due to technical problems that have since been ironed out, at least in part:
Warcraft 3: Reforged im Test-Update
Despite revaluation still an indictment
After all, the developers have been trying to improve the remake and deliver missing content ever since. A particularly popular feature returns with the latest patch, arriving on January 19th, according to the game’s official Twitter account:

That brings update 1.35
Probably the most important innovation of the patch is the introduction of self-created story campaigns. These were already part of the original, but were missing in the remake so far. They give you the opportunity to create your own stories or try out other players’ campaigns. The December announcement was already well received by fans:
Warcraft 3 Reforged
Now comes a long overdue feature
Also, in a comment to our article linked above, OutsiderXE promised to update their popular Custom Campaigns for Warcraft 3 and create something brand new:
Yay. As the creator of the popular campaigns Lord of the Clans, Day of the Dragon, and The Last Guardian, I’m very excited. Not only will I update my campaigns for the latest Reforged versions, I’m also working on something completely new 😉
Other changes include the pool of 1v1, 2v2, 4v4, and FFA maps. This is expanded to include additional maps and also accepts updates created by the community. Last but not least, there are numerous bug fixes and balance changes. You can read about what these look like in the latest and final test version in the patch notes on page 2.
Finally, if you are interested in what made the original Warcraft 3 so great, we can recommend our strategy game ranking video in which Maurice Weber, Markus Schwerdtel, Christian Schmidt and Gunnar Lott discuss this masterpiece:
