Update (31/05/24, 13:40 BST): Arrowhead community manager Baskinator has now posted on the official Helldivers 2 Discord server that a fix for the spawn bug in the current main order is “in development” and “will be deployed as soon as possible”.
Helldivers 2’s latest major order is simple in theory – destroy the Terminid super-colony on Meridia using an experimental dark fluid that may or may not attract the attention of the Illuminate. In practice, however, things are proving to be much more difficult than that, thanks to some buggy generation issues, which thankfully Arrowhead seems to have been aware of.
While a fix for this issue seems to be coming soon, it’s still sad to see the gaming community angered again so quickly, as recent changes made by the game studio seem to have regained the trust of some players, which was previously shaken by some controversial patches and the whole PSN Link incident.

So what happened to those who came to Meridia to help destroy the hive? They encountered enough worms to make their task difficult – many believed that things went beyond technical problems or intentional behavior.
“Bug Breaches will open up about five feet from the drill you need to drop,” someone explained on the game’s subreddit, “This is manageable on lower difficulties, but if you’re on a difficulty where there’s a chance Bile Titans will spawn from the glitch, then you’ll have to constantly deal with Titans spawning above the drill you need to survive.”
“Also, there is a final event at the end of each mission where Screamers appear, but this event has to be broken because even in single player at difficulty 1, they appear in droves,” they continued. “There are so many of them that entering the extraction code becomes a chore, and you can only input one arrow at a time because you are afraid to get close to the console.”
Of course, players have raised these issues on the game’s official Discord server, with one player receiving a response from an administrator named Purplegion who wrote: “The team is aware of the current issues with MO, please give them time to investigate.”
So, hopefully things get fixed soon. While some players are hoping a fix might extend this major order, if the swarm of bugs currently holding them back aren’t actually working as intended.
We’ll just have to see what happens, but if you’re heading to Meridia in the meantime, maybe take a little extra time to prepare.
