During a meeting with shareholders, Remedy Entertainment spoke about its many games in development. Alan Wake 2, Control 2 and its multiplayer or Vanguard, you must be patient!
Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment has poked its nose into its accounts, much to the delight of investors. Along with some big financial numbers, we received an update on the progress of the games being developed. You’ll need to arm yourself with some patience before you get a chance to play it.
Alan Wake 2 and Control 2, Remedy is progressing step by step
Alan Wake 2 recently revealed new images, but where does development really stand? As amazing as it sounds, Remedy is really aiming for a 2023 release.
Alan Wake 2 is in full production. There is still a lot to do, but the game is beginning to take on a more complete form in many areas. As already communicated, Alan Wake 2 will be released in 2023.
Destruction, on the other hand, is about Control 2 and the cooperative offshoot “Condor”. Both projects are still in the concept phase and therefore there is no definite direction yet.
The Condor project, a game from the Control universe, is still in the proof-of-concept stage. The Heron project, a larger control game (editor’s note: what’s next), is also in this phase and continues its prototyping.
Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake and Free-to-Play Vanguard
Yes, Remedy Entertainment has four games in the works, including the remake of Max Payne 1 & 2. However, like Control, that won’t happen anytime soon as the title is also in the concept stages. While the studio can rely on the originals, it doesn’t say that slated for a 2023 release is enough.
Ditto for the “Vanguard” project, a cooperative free-to-play software co-released by Tencent, although progress has been made.
The Vanguard project, a free cooperative game co-published by Tencent, has made good progress since the previous quarter. It is in the proof-of-concept phase and we have further strengthened the team. Vanguard and our other projects have benefited from the help of our office in Sweden.
Remedy is working hard, and not just on these four games. Bringing them to life takes a lot of technology, and the studio is improving its tools too.
Additionally, our priority with the Northlight technology team was to develop the necessary technology and tools that will be used for a number of upcoming Remedy games.
For now, the studio’s health is still good, with revenue up 55.9% compared to 2021. However, profit and operating margin are declining.
