After League of Legends, Riot Games hit the bull’s eye with Valorant and created a popular hit. There will now be an official German league for this.
Riot Games today announced two new local league formats for the hit Valorant in a pre press release. These are to be established alongside the VCT in the coming year 2022.
The professional league called VRL DACH: Evolution will start in the regions of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. In addition to this, the more community-oriented series VRC Project V is also starting with numerous cups and tournaments, which can be used to earn qualification points for promotion to the VRL. Overall, Riot Games wants to raise the eSports scene around Valorant in German-speaking countries to a new level.
The best teams in the region cavort in the VRL DACH: Evolution. Participating teams can first apply for this via an open qualification. Two official VRL Split are planned for the first year, in which the best teams compete against each other. The conclusion of each split is a playoff phase, which enables the best regional teams to advance to the VCT.
In the middle of the year, the regional winning team will also represent the region at the VRL EMEA Playoffs, where the eight top teams from all European regional leagues will meet. The starting signal for the VRL will be given on January 24th, 2022 with an open qualifier format with a maximum of 128 teams and will run until January 30th. The two splits until the end of the season will take place until July 3, 2022.
The open Valorant league VRC Projekt V, on the other hand, has no team restrictions and is intended to appeal to players of all abilities. These can win in the split for split scoring system. Three such splits are planned for 2022, each running eight to twelve weeks. The score is shown in a 24/7 ladder as the centerpiece with a flexible matchmaking system.
The biggest Valorant event is the Champions Tour 2022. The best teams in the EMEA region will be crowned at VCT 2022; the structure is to be adapted in order to enable more teams and to increase the level of competition. Further details will follow in early 2022.
