It has been almost a year since we hadn’t heard from the Arlésienne of the Arlésiennes of the video game. But thanks to new rumors, Valve is again forced to deny the existence of a new episode of Half-Life.
The release of Half-Life Alyx was not enough to end the perpetual rumors of the existence of a third episode in the Half-Life franchise. In January, the very secluded Gabe Newell reminded him of his intention to dodge all questions that Half-Life 3 raises “until they become unnecessary” without providing the associated keys to understanding.
The attack on the citadel
This time the exit from the forest is thanks to the self-proclaimed insider Tyler McVicker, who in a video entitled “The state of half-life” the Valve wouldn’t develop Half-Life 3, but would still be working on a project called Citadel, a title between FPS and real-time strategy that would be based on the more dystopian universe of Half-Life.
In the face of this unexpected release, Valve felt compelled to speak out to deny this gossip and remind the microphone of itIGN that you should never take the exclusivity of “people who know” too literally:
The statements of the videographer McVicker are to be viewed with some skepticism. We think it’s important to reiterate that despite his status as an avid gamer, he has no inside information on what’s going on at Valve right now. As you know, all of the major announcements about projects we are or are not working on come straight from us.
For those who forgot, Valve is officially very busy finalizing the production of its own “console”, the Steam Deck, which some hand-picked publishers like Capcom and Sony have apparently already received. For the rest of you, poor mortals, deliveries will be made in February 2022 at best.
