Valve gives news, we still have to be patient

news, patient, Valve

The Steam Deck 2 officially brings some news with it, but unfortunately it’s not particularly good for all impatient players. That’s what we know at the moment.

The Steam deck was a huge success for Valve. Since its launch, the company has mentioned several times the possibility of releasing new versions of this wearable device. However, players still have to be patient until a Steam Deck 2 appears.

Is there a Steam Deck 2 coming soon?

In an interview with Reviews.org, Lawrence Yang, a designer at Valve, said: stated that the company does not intend to release new versions of the console every year. He says it’s important not to release a new version just to make minor improvements. This would not justify a new edition and, in his opinion, would not be “fair” to the players.

For Valve, the real challenge is offering one significant technological leap. Yang said the company is already working on it Steam Deck 2but that they expect notable advances in computing power while extending battery life. Obviously, Valve wants to avoid releasing a product that brings only minor improvements and would rather wait for real innovations that are worthwhile.

This approach allows Valve to focus on what matters: providing players with an improved experience without frustrating them with too frequent and insignificant updates. Fans will therefore have to wait until technology enables this “generational leap” that Yang speaks of.

Statements that are consistent with the past

This isn’t the first time Valve has taken this stance. Last year, designer Jay Shaw said that Valve was constantly thinking about Steam Deck 2, but was waiting for the technology to advance far enough. For his part, Pierre-Lou Griffais, another member of Valve, also mentioned that it would probably be a few years before we see a new version.
