It seems that no one can buy Valve Index VR at this time.

VR Road reports that Valve sells its products in all 31 countries index VR headsets are out of stock. Steam pages in all regions have a "Notify Me" button instead of the option to buy an index.

This also applies to the different packages available, including the $ 999 all-inclusive option and the cheapest headset-only package. Japan is the only country where inventory of headphones, headsets, and controller packages can still be found.

Valve did not disclose when it would replenish inventory, but instead chose to post a message on the index's local store page that reads: "We are busy catching up with the Valve Index."

The increase in demand is likely due to expectations for Half-Life. This shortage actually started at the end of last year, but most of the assumed Indexes will be restocked in early 2020. It seems the situation will only get worse.

As a reminder, Index is not the only VR headset that can be used to play Half-Life: Alyx. Although the quality of the experience will vary, Valve-designed games work with a variety of headphones.

The tech site Tested recently played Alyx with different headphones and shared some ideas about how the experience transitions between them. Click the link to watch the full video.
